after reading about mr hays in the daily post my class had a bake sale  with lots of goodes and me and some others went to his house to give 200 dolars that we raised from our bake sale and after we felt really good doing some thing to help

Dad’s marching staunch and proud.

Engines revving over the loud, roaring cheers of the crowd.

Feeling happy but sad at the thought that my Dad might not come home.

The juicy, oily Sunday roast’s fat on my bread.

I think of how hard and terrible it will be  without the men of our village.
